Welcome aboard a vacation that features a
fabulous cruise to some favorite islands and
supports the good work of a local charity at the
same time!
Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central
Pennsylvania has discovered, in cooperation with AAA
Travel, a new and fun way to fund-raise and friend-
raise, with results that are exciting and successful
for everyone. In early September 2013, more than
250 happy travelers cruised to pleasant ports along
the coast of New England and Canada aboard Royal
Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas. As a direct result,
Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central
Pennsylvania received donations over $26,000, all of
which was raised by these happy travelers.
Celebrating 30 years of providing a home-
away-from-home for families whose children
are receiving critical medical care at Penn State
Hershey Children’s Hospital and related programs,
Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central
Pennsylvania and Board Vice President Sharon
Greiner expressed enormous gratitude to the
cruisers who participated in 2013 and encouraged
everyone to join in the fun on their Autumn 2014
cruise to Bermuda and the Caribbean.
“Our cruise was a fabulous way to raise money to
ensure that families of critically ill children can stay
at Ronald McDonald House in Hershey, at no cost to
them. I encourage everyone to check out our 2014
cruise to Bermuda and the Caribbean; there is no
better way to have a fun vacation and help families
that need it the most."

AAA’s Group Travel Supervisor, Jessica Eby, was one
of the escorts for this year’s cruise to ensure that
everyone enjoyed a carefree and fun-filled vacation.
Jessica was thrilled with the outstanding service and
activities onboard the ship and said, “Everyone loved
the Explorer of the Seas’ very friendly staff, officers and
crew. The ship’s Royal
Promenade was the
exciting central venue
for colorful parades, an
Irish band, and even
a ‘70s dance party.
Explorer’s famous ice
skating rink and show,
rock climbing wall
and mini-golf are big
attractions, along with
the scrumptious dining
and spectacular stage
shows. The camaraderie
among our travelers was amazing and many said
they could hardly wait to cruise again next year!”
