The Wedding Report, a research company tracking
the wedding industry. The average price tag of a
wedding decreased last year by 3.4 percent, yet
couples actually spent nearly 21 percent more on
the reception location, said Shane McMurray, CEO
and founder of The Wedding Report.
TheWedding Protector Plan fromTravelers includes
coverage for rehearsal events that take place within
48 hours of the wedding for as little as $160. It
also covers items such as lost deposits, perishable

Floods, Mudslides:
Are You Covered?
AAA Says Additional Insurance May Be
Needed No Matter Where You Live
Wintertime is fading fast and regular rain showers
are right around the corner, which means flooding
is not far behind. Before that rain arrives, AAA
Northwest Ohio has some important facts for
homeowners. Many may not realize they are at risk
of flooding, even if they don’t live in a designated
flood zone.
Federal law requires flood insurance for federally
financed loans if you live in a high-risk flood zone,
and lenders may require it for moderate risk zones.
The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) says
just an inch of water can cause damage to your
property, and flash floods can bring waves of water
up to 20 feet high. You can learn more about the
flood risk to your home and community at
.
Flood Insurance Facts
• Standard home insurance and commercial insurance policies
do not have flood coverage. A separate flood policy is needed
to have flood coverage.
• AAA sells flood insurance policies underwritten by the
National Flood Insurance Program.
• The optional comprehensive portion of a standard AAA auto
insurance policy covers flood damage to a vehicle (this varies
from state to state).
• Mudslides are not covered in a homeowner’s policy, but
flood insurance can help protect your property in the event of
a mudflow.
• The NFIP will help you determine your flood risk and learn
about safeguarding your property at

I Do…
NeedWedding Insurance?
The list of wedding tasks can be quite daunting,
especially when unexpected issues arise. Problems
such as adverse weather, occurrences that may
make your chosen venue unusable, health
issues for the couple and/or their immediate
family, loss or damage of the brides gown, the
bankruptcy/disappearance of a vendor (DJ, Flowers,
Photographer, etc.). Such items, plan as we might,
can and frequently do negatively impact plans.
Here at the AAA Insurance Agency, we have
partnered with Traveler’s Insurance to offer an
opportunity to protect members against such
events and allow for everyone to rest easy with the
knowledge that financial consequences can be
minimized.
In fact, Travelers recently analyzed the company’s
wedding insurance
claims from 2011 and
found that a total
of 31 percent of all
wedding claims were
the result of problems
associated with
vendors and venues.
“Given that the leading
causes of wedding
claims continue to be
a result of vendor and
venue issues, couples
should seriously
consider the financial
risks associated with
planning a wedding
and protect their
investment and
budget accordingly,”
said Chantal Cyr, Vice
President for Travelers
Wedding Insurance.

Tornadoes Strike Quickly –
Preparation Is Key
AAA Says Disaster Planning Can Save Lives
When a Funnel Cloud Hits
While tornadoes are known for their sudden,
often devastating appearance, there are ways
you can protect your family. AAA Northwest Ohio
suggests several steps you can take in anticipation
of a tornado.
The United States experiences about 1,000
tornadoes each year, with around 20 of them
considered devastating, according to the National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
These kill 60 people on average, mostly from flying
or falling debris. Large hail, which may precede
or follow a tornado, is also a threat. More than
$16 billion in property damage was due to hail
and tornado damage in 2011, according to the
Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety.
AAA Northwest Ohio's Checklist for
Tornado Preparedness
• Keep emergency and first aid kits available,
including a battery powered radio, extra batteries,
food, and water.
• Prepare a disaster communications plan with your
family members.
• Learn your children’s school disaster dismissal policy.
• Identify a safe shelter area in your home, away from
