Longitudes and
Latitudes
Aloha!
As I write this article, I am in Maui! Yes, really!
The trade winds are blowing! My husband and
I, plus some of our members just had lunch at
Mama’s Fish House. We have 79 AAA members
who are seeing the Hawaiian Islands with us,
and we are all having the time of our lives.
Every night some of us meet up for dinner,
shows and even dancing!
You can tell I love getting to know different
people and enjoying their stories and company.
At AAA Northwest Ohio, we know how to do
Group Travel right!
Take a look at pages 14 and 15 for all of our group
trips happening in 2013. We have an exciting year
planned for you. How about Australia? Iceland? A
Rhine River cruise? Las Vegas? The British Isles? I
know, after reading this, you're ready to travel on
one of our great group departures.
If traveling with a group doesn’t work for you,
we can make your travel dreams come true,
too. Maybe a trip to the National Parks, a villa
in Tuscany, that long awaited Disney vacation,
zip-lining through the rainforest—these are just
a few of what our travel professionals can make
happen for you. Whether you drive or fly, our
specialists are excited to help you!
Be sure to mark on your calendar now, for our
xTRAVELganza Travel Show and Marketplace,
happening Sunday, January 27th at the Hilton
Garden Inn at Levis Commons from 11a.m.-3p.m.
We have booths featuring our representatives
from our major cruise and tour operators to
answer all of your questions. All of our travel
professionals will be there too! And…because
we know you are busy, we will be at the show to
book your trip THAT DAY!
You may contact your AAA Travel agent via the
web at
or at one of our
seven area branches that works best for you.
Mahalo!

Indian Inspiration
T
raveling to India conjures images of vibrant saris,
majestic elephants and the incredible, soaring
spires of the Taj Mahal. India’s exotic characteristics
afford visitors an experience distinct from any other.
The serene nature of India’s culture provides the
most valuable souvenir—inner peace. Whether
embarking upon a journey to Jama Masjid, India’s
largest mosque or enjoying a yoga class in Udaipur,
visiting this country centers not only on uncovering
the mysteries of the region, though also those of the
traveler.
Delhi, the center of India’s political scene, is also a
cultural melting pot. In a city of 13.85 million people,
major religions include Hinduism,
Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and
Christianity. Once the Islamic capital
of India, it was also the location
where emperors and imperialists
implemented their rule. Touring Delhi
by rickshaw allows travelers to form
a thorough understanding of the
city’s history. Examining the historic
transition of India by visiting 16th
century architecture of Humayun’s
tomb to theWWI commemorative
India Gate provides an exceptional
education regarding the path of this
country. The second largest democracy in the world,
India’s branches of government are seated in Delhi.
Visit the president’s residence and Parliament, which
includes the president-elected Council of States and,
the body that is chosen by popular vote, the House of
the People.
The city of Udaipur is home to many extraordinary
sites and opportunities to experience Indian
culture. Lake Pichola, thought to be a manmade
lake created in the 14th century, is one of the area’s
most beautiful. Udaipur’s Lake Palace now serves
as a luxurious hotel, situated in the middle of Lake
Pichola, must be seen during any visit to the city.
Known for its palaces and busy culture, Jaipur
showcases a combination of urbane style and
village culture. It is here, that expensive hotels and
streets filled with livestock complement each other,
while tourists marvel at the chaotic scene unfolding
before their eyes. Seeing the Amer Fort is worth the
long walk; though why walk when you can ride an
elephant?
While elephants are extraordinary creatures,
Ranthambore National Park is one of
the most well known locations to see
an array of exotic animals. The park is
famous for serving as the home of its
beautiful tigers.
Varanasi is a site known for intense
rejuvenation, as its spiritual history
and longevity are unmatched.
An important Hindu pilgrimage
destination, Varanasi inspires deep
reflection for the pious followers
of many faiths, as well as tourists.
Bathing in the River Ganges is
thought to provide redemption for
sins, though for mortals who have a clear conscience,
cruises are also available to sail along this famous
waterway.
Join AAA Northwest Ohio on October 10-24, 2013,
for a fantastic journey through India. Theresa Macey,
Group Vacations Manager, will serve as the guide
on the Mysteries of India tour organized to expose
members to the most fascinating attractions of this
mystical land.
